Some leaders are shaped in boardrooms, but others — the quiet, powerful ones — are shaped at home, in the tender moments of raising a child and teaching them how to move through this world with kindness. Kathleen R. Greene, the second recipient of our $2,000 Fearless Giving Scholarship, is that kind of leader.

For Kathleen, her greatest leadership role has been as a mother — guiding her daughter through everything from the basics of life to the deeper lessons of compassion, courage, and being a good human. This role has not only defined her but also fueled her purpose: to build a better future for them both.

Kathleen’s dream is to become an Ultrasound Technician, a calling that allows her to support expecting mothers during one of the most emotional and life-changing moments of their lives. She carries a genuine love for this work — the privilege of offering reassurance, connection, and care when it is needed most.

To bring this dream to life, Kathleen will apply and enroll in Palm Beach State College’s Medical Sonography Program. She is already taking courses while working full-time and raising her daughter — a balancing act that demands extraordinary strength, discipline, and heart.

Despite the weight she carries, Kathleen moves forward with grace. She is determined, focused, and driven by the desire to uplift her family and build a stable, meaningful future. Her story is a powerful reminder that ambition paired with purpose can rewrite destinies.

Kapree was one of the earliest clients of Holy Ground PBC, the remarkable organization dedicated to helping homeless young mothers rebuild their lives. Arriving with an infant and facing challenges no young woman should ever navigate alone, Kapree refused to let her circumstances define her. Instead, she chose perseverance, discipline, and hope.

With Holy Ground’s support — and an unwavering spirit of her own — she completed the Dental Assistant program and began working immediately. But her dreams didn’t stop there. Kapree is now returning to Palm Beach State College to pursue a Dental Hygienist degree, determined to elevate her career and create a brighter future for her child.

Balancing motherhood, school, and work is no small feat. Unable to work full-time while carrying a demanding academic load, Kapree pieces together per diem Dental Assistant shifts wherever she is needed and supplements her income with food delivery — doing whatever it takes to stay on track. Her grit is extraordinary, her humility inspiring, and her commitment unshakeable.

Kapree reminds us that strength is not measured by ease but by endurance. She is building a life defined by resilience, not circumstance — and we are honored to walk alongside her as she pushes through these next two years toward her dream of becoming a Dental Hygienist.

📚 In 2010, Florise took a significant step towards her educational aspirations by earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. While her degree was in psychology, her heart was always drawn to the world of teaching and education.

🌟 In 2013, Florise embarked on a new path, working as a paraprofessional in the classroom, where she played a crucial role in assisting students with special needs. Her dedication to providing support and guidance to these students highlighted her innate ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

🌍 Florise's dedication extended beyond the classroom as she served as a community language facilitator for eight years. During this time, she helped students learn the English language and bridged the gap between parents and teachers by translating during parent-teacher conferences. Her linguistic skills and commitment to communication further enriched the educational experience for both students and their families.

🏫 Currently, Florise serves as a Teacher's Assistant at the esteemed Little Dude Ranch Academy, where she works closely with first and second-grade students. Her role allows her to continue nurturing young minds and supporting their educational journey.
