Clive Denham Taylor was born on September 14, 1944, in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Gladstone Taylor and Linda Saint Taylor. After 77 rich years, he departed peacefully from this life, surrounded by his loved ones on April 13, 2022. If one were to look up the meaning of sports fan, you would see a picture of Clive. Clive enjoyed watching all sports and was able to speak authoritatively on each activity. He loved music, enjoyed a good Domino game and above all he loved his family fiercely and unconditionally. Clive was the younger sibling to his sister, Beverley. The two shared a special and inseparable bond. Clive, always a charismatic, kind, ingenious and independent man, demonstrated at an early age a natural propensity to learn various technical and mechanical skilled work. His many apprenticeships prepared him to become one of the youngest and most skilled machinists at the Jamaica Omnibus Service (JOS) in Kingston, Jamaica. Clive migrated to the United States in his twenties and continued to study and develop his machinist trade. He worked with many prominent companies in the New York Tri-State area. As the New York to Atlanta migration boom began in the 1990’s, Clive decided to relocate to the Atlanta, GA area where he rebuilt a new life using his beloved trade as a Machinist. In a relatively brief time, Clive created a great name for himself not only as a skilled tradesman but by his infectious warm and genuine personality. During this time, he met and began working for a local businessman, Elie Karam. What the two did not know at the time is that they would work together for a span of over three decades, building over six retail clothing stores and various other businesses throughout the greater Atlanta area. The two developed a mutual respect and bond of business, friendship and family. The gates of heaven and its choir welcomed Clive to reunite with his parents Linda and Gladstone, Grandmother Harriett Saint, Uncles Douglas Saint, Dudley Haye and Charles Haye, who preceded him in death and who he credited regularly for shaping him into the man he was. Clive leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his only child, daughter, Karen Taylor, granddaughter, Kerrian Taylor, sister Beverley James, brother-in-law Horace “Jammy” James, nieces and nephews Suzanne James, Darren James, Natalie Wiltshire and husband Larry Wiltshire. Great nieces and nephews Jonathan Gordon, Jasmine Gordon, Amara James, Jason Chambers, Hayden Wiltshire, Mason Wiltshire and Dylan Gordon, extended family including aunt and cousins, his Atlanta family, the Karam’s and an abundance of good friends.
Ivy M. Hill Petrie was born January 27, 1922 and departed this life on August 27, 2021. She used to tell everyone she came across that they should make sure they go to church. Pastor Gary attributes the start of our Jamaican ministry to Ivy. Ivy survives her son, Clive, niece Beverley, brother Vincent, grandsons, great grandchildren and other relatives and many many friends whose lives she touched. Her memorial service was held at St. John's Church on November 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
